Privacy policy

Last updated: 4 October 2026

This policy explains what personal information is handled when you play the Diamond Digger game on iPhone, iPad or Android (“the game”) and when you visit this website, diamonddigger.co.za (“the website”). It also explains the choices you have and how to contact us.

The short version

  • We do not ask for your name, email address or any account to play.
  • Your progress, scores and settings are saved on your device only. We never receive them.
  • The game is free and shows ads from Google AdMob. Google may use your device’s advertising identifier and IP address to show and measure ads. You choose whether ads may be personalised, and on iPhone and iPad whether the game may track you.
  • The Remove Ads purchase is handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details.
  • The website uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking.

1. Who we are

Diamond Digger is published by In-Detail Advertising CC (“In-Detail”, “we”, “us”), a close corporation registered in South Africa, based in Bedfordview, Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. For the purposes of the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) we are the responsible party, and for the purposes of the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) we are the controller, for the personal information described in this policy that we decide how to use. You can reach us, including our Information Officer, at hello@in-detail.com.

2. Information saved on your device

To work, the game saves the following on your device:

  • your progress: unlocked caves, stars, difficulty levels and best scores;
  • your settings: music and sound volume, vibration, controls, zoom and similar options;
  • whether you own the Remove Ads purchase;
  • how many caves you have completed, so that ads between caves can be spaced out (no ads appear between your first few caves).

This information stays on your device. It is not sent to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see it. Deleting the game deletes it. Your device’s own backup service (such as iCloud or Google backup) may include it in your device backups, under that service’s terms.

3. Advertising

Diamond Digger is free to play and is paid for by ads served by Google AdMob, a service of Google. There are no ads while you are playing a cave. Ads appear only:

  • when you choose to watch a short video for a reward (30 extra seconds when time runs out, or a continue after game over); and
  • occasionally between caves, after you have completed a cave (not if you own Remove Ads).

To show ads, measure how they perform, limit how often you see the same ad, and detect and prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads software in the game may collect and send to Google:

  • your device’s advertising identifier (the Advertising ID on Android, or the IDFA on iPhone and iPad if you allow tracking) and other device and app identifiers;
  • your IP address, which can be used to estimate your general location (such as country or city);
  • information about your device, such as its model, operating system, language and screen size;
  • information about the ads you see and tap;
  • diagnostic data, such as crash and performance information.

Google uses this information under its own privacy policy. You can read how Google uses information from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and Google’s privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy. We do not receive this information about you. We only see combined reports from Google, such as how many ads were shown in each country, which do not identify anyone.

We ask Google to limit ads in the game to content suitable for a general audience (the AdMob “PG” rating), and we do not use your information to target ads ourselves.

4. Your advertising choices

  • Personalised ads (EEA, UK and Switzerland, and other places where the law requires it). The first time you open the game, you are asked, through Google’s consent message, whether ads may be personalised and whether information may be used for the purposes listed there. If you say no, Google may still show non-personalised ads, which use only limited information such as your general location and the context of the game. You can change your choice at any time in the game: open Settings and tap OPTIONS next to PRIVACY.
  • US state privacy laws. Where a US state privacy law gives you the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information or of targeted advertising, the game offers that choice through Google’s message, and you can change it at any time from Settings > PRIVACY > OPTIONS.
  • Tracking on iPhone and iPad. The game asks whether it may use your device’s advertising identifier to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. The game works in exactly the same way whichever you choose. You can change this at any time in the iOS Settings app under Privacy & Security > Tracking.
  • Advertising ID on Android. You can reset or delete your Advertising ID in your device’s settings (usually Settings > Privacy > Ads, or Settings > Google > Ads, depending on your device).
  • Fewer ads. The reward videos are always optional. The one-time Remove Ads purchase switches off the ads between caves.
  • Playing offline. The game plays fully offline. When your device is offline, no ads are loaded and no information is sent to Google.

5. Purchases

The Remove Ads purchase is sold and processed by Apple through the App Store, or by Google through Google Play, under their own terms and privacy policies. We never receive your name, address or payment details. The game only learns from Apple or Google whether you own the purchase, so that it can switch off the ads between caves and restore the purchase when you reinstall the game or move to a new device.

6. Permissions

The game uses your internet connection to load ads and to check and restore your purchase. On Android, it declares the Advertising ID permission (used by Google’s ads software) and the billing permission (used for the Remove Ads purchase). On iPhone and iPad, it asks for tracking permission as described above. The game does not ask for access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts or photos. Vibration (haptic feedback) can be switched off in the game’s Settings.

7. This website

The website does not use cookies, analytics, advertising, social media plug-ins or any other tracking. All of its pages, images and fonts are served from our own web host, so visiting it does not send information to any other company.

Like every web server, our web host automatically records basic technical information when a page is requested: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the address of the page that linked to it, and your browser and device type. These server logs are used only to keep the website running and secure, and are deleted by the host after a limited period.

The website links to the App Store, Google Play and other websites. When you follow those links, the privacy policy of that website applies.

8. When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use this only to reply to you and to deal with your request, for example to help with a problem in the game. We do not add you to any mailing list.

9. Why we may process information

Where POPIA or the GDPR applies, the information described above is handled on these grounds:

  • Personalised ads, and storing or reading information on your device for advertising: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time from Settings > PRIVACY > OPTIONS.
  • Non-personalised ads, ad measurement and fraud prevention: our legitimate interest in funding a free game and keeping its ads honest, balanced against your rights, or your consent where the law requires it.
  • Checking and restoring your purchase: performing our agreement with you.
  • Replying to your emails and running the website securely: our legitimate interests in supporting players and protecting the website.
  • Meeting legal obligations: where the law requires us to keep or disclose information.

10. Who receives information

We do not sell personal information. Information is received only by:

  • Google, which provides the ads in the game (Google LLC and its affiliates, including Google Ireland Limited for users in the EEA and UK);
  • Apple and Google, which process the Remove Ads purchase through their app stores;
  • our web host, which stores the website and its server logs; and
  • authorities or other parties where the law requires it, or where needed to protect our rights or the safety of others.

11. International transfers

We are based in South Africa, and Google, Apple and their service providers process information in the United States and other countries. Where personal information leaves South Africa, the EEA or the UK, it is protected by the safeguards those companies use, such as standard contractual clauses and data protection agreements, as required by POPIA and the GDPR.

12. How long information is kept

  • Information saved on your device stays there until you delete the game.
  • Google keeps advertising information for the periods set out in its own policies.
  • Website server logs are kept by our host for a limited period for security, then deleted.
  • Emails are kept for as long as needed to deal with your request and for our ordinary business records, and then deleted.

13. Security

Because the game keeps your information on your device and we run no game accounts or servers, very little information about you ever reaches us. We protect what we do hold, such as emails, with reasonable technical and organisational measures. If we become aware of a security compromise affecting your personal information, we will tell you and the relevant regulator where the law requires it.

14. Children

Diamond Digger is made for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

15. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • ask whether we hold personal information about you and for a copy of it;
  • ask us to correct or delete it;
  • object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it;
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what was done before you withdrew it;
  • receive your information in a portable format; and
  • complain to a data protection regulator.

Most of the information described here is held by you (on your device) or by Google, Apple or our web host rather than by us. For advertising information, the quickest way to exercise your choices is the settings described in section 4, and you can contact Google directly through its privacy policy. For anything we hold, email hello@in-detail.com and we will reply within 30 days. We may need to confirm your identity first.

In South Africa you can complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za). In the UK you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), and in the EEA to the data protection authority where you live or work. We would appreciate the chance to help first, so please contact us.

16. Changes to this policy

If the game or the law changes, we will update this policy, publish the new version on this page and change the “last updated” date at the top. If a change significantly affects how your information is used, we will also tell you in the game or ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
